The following policies are strictly enforced in the interest of maintaining a wholesome atmosphere, conducive to learning. Cooperation by all makes the summer, in addition to being productive, fun.
- All residents will be on campus, nightly by 9:30 P.M. (30 minutes before town curfew).
- Residents will be in their rooms by 10:00 P.M. on weekday nights and 11:00 P.M. weekend nights.
- Lights will be out and silence maintained throughout the dorm at 10:30 P.M. weekday nights and 11:30 P.M. weekend nights until the following morning at 6:00 A.M.
- Residents will check on and off campus, in accordance with rules established by the camp director and according to permissions granted by their parents.
- Refrigerators or other high electricity consuming appliances are forbidden except with specific permission of the Dorm Supervisor. Irons are permitted, however they must be unplugged when not in use. Fans and radios are also authorized; however, they will be turned off when the occupant is not in his/her room.
- Dorm Supervisor (male for male dorm, female for female dorm), Chief of Staff and Camp Director may enter rooms at any time, whether the room is occupied or unoccupied. All staff takes care not to enter rooms without proper greeting.
- Beds will be made each morning before the first class or rehearsal.
- Rooms and common areas will be maintained neatly at all times, subject to inspection by camp personnel. Dancers will be notified if the neatness of the rooms or common areas falls below standards. Residents are expected to cooperate in correcting discrepancies without delay.
- Use or possession of illegal drugs is strictly forbidden in the dorm, throughout campus and throughout the duration of Summer Camp, regardless of location. Camp personnel have the responsibility to make inquiries or notify appropriate authorities in the event of suspected use or possession. In the event there is reasonable evidence of drug use or possession, parents or guardians will be notified immediately. Confirmed use or possession will result in immediate dismissal without refund. Strongly suspected use may also be grounds for dismissal after discussion with parents or guardians. BBT is absolutely intolerant of illegal drugs.
- Use or possession of tobacco or alcohol is strictly forbidden in the dorm and throughout campus. Illegal consumption or possession of tobacco or alcohol is forbidden throughout the duration of Summer Camp, regardless of location. Summer Camp participants are reminded that use and possession of alcohol and tobacco by minors is illegal in the State of Maine.
- Possession of firearms or other weapons and any and all explosive or incendiary devices, including fireworks, sparklers, candles and incense is strictly forbidden in the dorm and throughout the campus and will result in dismissal, without refund.
- No camper may leave campus, or be off campus without another camper, at any time, for any reason. Safety for the dancer is our first concern here. No camper may go anywhere, even with a fellow dancer if not approved and authorized by the Camp Director in accordance with wishes on permission forms.
- Cooking utensils and cooking in the dorm is not authorized. Unpackaged foods will not be kept in the dorm and crumbs, etc., will be removed immediately in order to maintain neatness, healthy sanitary conditions and so not to attract pests or rodents.
- All residents will respect and cooperates with all Camp Personnel at all times.
The Dorm Supervisor is the final authority in all matters regarding dormitory policy, rules and procedures. Further, the Dorm Supervisor remains in his/her room every night and all night and is always available to the dancers. The dorm supervisor remains on campus 24 hours a day, the only exception being when the Camp Director or the Chief of Staff is on campus in their places during daytime hours.
